Jonny Wilson has a long family history in the Salmon and Snake River canyon area. Being a fourth-generation canyonite, he was
raised in Riggins, and graduated from Salmon River High School in 1987. After a stint in the Army, he lived in Oregon for a
short time where he started and ran an antique store. After a few years, Jonny sold the store and moved to Hawaii where he worked
as an entertainer and tour guide. Jonny began doing volunteer work on the side for an organization called Ho'opono, helping
the blind and mentally-challenged, and caught the volunteer bug. After 5 years in Hawaii, Jonny moved to Washington state, and
worked as a contractor for Fed-Ex. Meanwhile, he began doing volunteer work with law enforcement, and realized his true calling
of helping others. In mid-2005, Jonny left Fed-Ex to work full-time as a police officer. Later that same year, an opportunity
to relocate and work as a Sheriff's Deputy in his hometown Riggins came along. Jonny jumped at the chance to return "home"
and help make the Salmon River canyon a better and safer place to live. Jonny has a daughter attending the University of Alaska
in Anchorage. Jonny also coaches at Salmon River High School, and serves as Chairman on the Business-Technology Advisory Board
for School District #243.
